From 1800 to 1974, Draguignan was the seat of the prefecture of Le Var. Today, it is the central town of the "Communauté d'Agglomération Dracénoise". Enjoying a Mediterranean climate, it stands on the hillsides at an altitude of about 200 metres. Known as the "Gateway to the Verdon", it benefits from quality infrastructures : public transport, sports complexes, reputable medical centres… While Draguignan is equipped with all the amenities of a large town, it has nevertheless preserved its village atmosphere.
Draguignan's property market is something of a mixed bag. There is no real hierarchy among its various neighbourhooods. For new buyers, the most important factor is thus closeness to the workplace. For those looking for apartments, offerings are split between old and new residences, and the price bracket turns out to be particularly wide. Fine old Haussmann buildings still top the bill.
